WESTERN
NEW YORK SOFTWARE COMPANY TO EXPAND
Microlanguage
to Create 53 New Jobs With Salaries Ranging From $40,000 to $100,000
Albany, NY--April
24, 2002 -- Governor George E. Pataki today announced that Microlanguage
is investing $2.23 million to expand its Western New York operations.
This investment will enable the company to create 53 new jobs over
the next three years paying salaries ranging between $40,000 to
$100,000.
"This is
great news for Western New York and demonstrates how our economic
policies are helping to generate new job opportunities and building
a brighter future for the Empire State," Governor Pataki said.
"Attracted by our tax cuts and smart economic policies, more
and more companies like Microlanguage are recognizing that Western
New York is an outstanding place to invest, expand and create new
jobs."
Microlanguage,
which was founded in April 2001 by Robert Fritzinger, founder of
Voice Technologies Group (VTG), has developed a powerful new technology
that enables portal (information) providers, global 2000 corporations,
and government agencies engaged in Homeland Defense and Security
efforts, to precisely extract content from very large knowledge
bases and real- time, streaming content.
Mr. Fritzinger
said, "We've succeeded in assembling a talented management
team that is aggressively moving a very exciting technology out
of the lab and into a ready marketplace. It's very motivating for
our team to have the State of New York, and Empire State Development's
Western New York office in particular, infoTech Niagara, and the
Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) commit their support to our vision.
We've gotten great support from them through every step of this
process, and can't praise them enough."
Joel A. Giambra,
Erie County Executive said, "This is proof positive that Erie
County works. I'm pleased that Microlanguage will be developing
its next generation of tools here in Erie County for years to come.
Thanks to Governor Pataki's continued leadership the Upstate economy
continues to expand and move in the right direction."
State Senator
Mary Lou Rath said, "The hard work invested over the past several
years into attracting companies to Western New York is certainly
paying off. Microlanguage will be yet another top-level employer
to create new jobs in our region that could have chosen to expand
any other area in the U.S. The fact that they, like so many companies
in recent years, have flourished here, shows that the cooperation
between Governor Pataki and local officials is impressing the private
sector and will continue to move Western New York forward economically."
Assemblyman
Jim Hayes said, "Today's announcement that Microlanguage is
investing $2.23 million to expand operations and create 53 new jobs,
at salaries of $40,000 to $100,000, is great news for Western New
York. Governor Pataki's tax cuts and economic policies continue
to make New York State more business friendly and are specifically
helping Western New York grow jobs. I am pleased to join with other
state and local officials in welcoming this expansion at Microlanguage
and look forward to continuing my support for Governor Pataki's
efforts to help Western New York create an economic environment
where businesses and families can prosper."
In addition
to allowing Microlanguage to significantly expand its staff, the
investment enables the Company to further develop its cutting edge
software to meet specific customer demand. Microlanguage's human
language processing software tightly couples with the security solutions,
content and document management systems, and voice recognition software
solutions its OEM partners provide.
Empire State
Development Chairman Charles A. Gargano said, "Under Governor
Pataki=s leadership, we continue to have success in attracting new
investment into New York. In fact, the highly respected Site Selection
Magazine recently ranked the Empire State third in the nation in
expanding and attracting new business investment into our State,
a significant jump over the disappointing 20th place ranking New
York received in 1994."
Cian Robinson,
Executive Director of infoTech Niagara added, "With the products
and services that this company offers, Microlanguage could have
chosen to locate anywhere in the US but chose to stay and grow in
Western New York. We are proud to have been able to assist Microlanguage
with their start-up needs and are committed to helping them achieve
their goals and objectives. We also thank our public sector partners,
Empire State Development, which structured an incentive package
that allowed Microlanguage to remain and grow in Western New York."
In consideration
for Microlanguage's commitment to invest $2.23 million, creating
53 jobs and retaining 4 jobs in New York State, the company is eligible
to apply for a $100,000 capital grant from Empire State Development.
