Microlanguage Receives SmartStart Venture Forum Award
Western NY Software Firm Wins Top Honors for its Business Plan Presentation
Amherst, NY--October
7, 2002 -- Having participated as a finalist in the 2002 SmartStart
Venture Forum, Microlanguage (microlanguage.com) announced
today that they received the "Best Presentation" award
in a ceremony that capped off the two day competition which was
aimed at uniting emerging technology-related companies with investors.
The finals of the event, which were presented by the Empire State
Venture Group, Inc. (ESVG), were held in Albany, New York on October
2 - 3, 2002.
Microlanguage
was one of 30 finalists selected from a field of more than 70 applicants
to compete for awards and the attention of more than 320 attendees,
and 91 institutional, angel and commercial investors. It is also
the second year in which a Western New York firm received a SmartStart
award.
Robert Fritzinger,
president and CEO of Microlanguage said, "Winning the award
is an honor, but what really made the SmartStart forum worthwhile
for us was the opportunity to reach a large and diverse body of
investors with our message. This is a challenging time to be raising
early stage financing, which made the SmartStart forum all the more
attractive. The award underscores that Microlanguage has a very
compelling product and business plan, backed by an experienced and
skillful management team. But we also recognize the efforts and
foresight of the ESVG that made the event possible, and the encouragement
and support of infoTech Niagara."
Cian Robinson,
Executive Director of infoTech Niagara said, "I congratulate
Microlanguage on receiving the Best Presentation award. This marks
the second year in a row in which a Western New York company has
been honored at the SmartStart Venture Forum. InfoTech Niagara is
pleased to have mentored Microlanguage, and several other WNY participants
in the forum, and we will continue to work on behalf of emerging
IT companies that are seeking exposure to venture capital, and other
forms of assistance."
