Technology Aids the War Against Terrorism
Company's
Software Boosts Performance of JISR Information Extraction Tools
Amherst, NY--March
12, 2003 -- Microlanguage, a provider of intelligent language
processing solutions, today announced that its Thematix technology
is an integral part of the US Army's Joint Intelligence, Surveillance,
and Reconnaissance (JISR) program aimed at providing early entry
forces improved situational awareness.
According to
the US Army, the mission of JISR is "to provide early entry
forces and their supporting headquarters with significantly improved
situational awareness by means of more effective and timely access,
integration, and visualization of relevant multi-service multi-echelon
intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) information."
Microlanguage's
Thematix technology is one of several commercial-off-the-shelf products
being integrated by Raytheon under the Initial Operational Capability
phase of JISR. The role of Thematix is to increase the precision
and thoroughness of the warfighter's understanding of enemy operations
in an expanded battlespace.
On Microlanguage's
involvement in JISR, Robert Fritzinger, president and CEO of Microlanguage,
said "Given our role of extracting relevant information from
a number of disparate data sources, the challenges we face supporting
national defense and homeland security applications like JISR are
actually no more complex than those presented by content management
systems in Fortune 1000 enterprises. In each case, Thematix real-time
semantic data extraction and tagging enables the end user to quickly
access and pinpoint the data they need as actionable information.
That's our value-add."
Microlanguage
expects their involvement in JISR to continue through the Deployment
phase of JISR which is scheduled to begin in FY04.
