About
the Seminar
This
seminar focuses on two issues that are central to one of the
critical challenges facing the Department of Homeland Security,
the Department of Defense, and our intelligence agencies: how
to deal with information overload, and how to enable analysts
to visualize patterns of events and pieces of information that
are elemental to threats to our national security.
Dr.
Gary Lohman, Senior Engineer and Project Lead for Knowledge-Based
Systems Development at the Naval Air Systems Command, will provide
his perspective and insight into the role of information reduction
and visualization in predictive threat analysis. In his keynote
address, which is unclassified, Dr. Lohman will discuss why
a new decision-information paradigm is essential to countering
information overload, and enabling first responders to preempt
threats to homeland security.
